AMA or Ask Me Anything is an informal interview format where the audience can ask an interviewee, well, anything. AMA's can often be found on Reddit (r/IAmA) and occasionally on other social media platforms.
We are on a mission to build two-way lines of communication between content creators and fans to create an entirely new fan experience and rebalance the contentious relationship content creators have with legacy social media platforms.
We live in an era of User Generated Content, but this continuously puts the onus on the creators to develop new, more and better viral content ideas to stay relevant.
User Requested Content focused on the value that a creator brings to a specific fan. It shortens the ideation process and focuses on adding value to your fans.
Hence, we were extremely excited to see Jewel Staite, aka Kaylee Frye, aka Jennifer Keller, aka Abigail Bianchi join QP and unlock an entirely new experience for Firefly, Stargate Atlantis and Family Law fans.
What Makes Ask Me Anything So Popular?
Traditional interviews usually use questions that are vetted ahead of time. This way, interviewees can prepare and offer a well-rounded, on-brand response. AMA, on the other hand, is open to anyone. This makes the AMA questions more diverse, interesting, and surprising.
Use QP To Ask Me Anything
QP is a free app that allows creators to create free and paid channels. Paid AMA is one of the many strategies that our content creators are using to build new revenue streams.
Download QP from the App Store of the Google Play Store, create your account, and activate Stripe.
Then, you must decide how you want fans to submit their questions.
Strategy #1 Comment below an AMA post
Post an image or video that invites your followers to submit their questions as comments below the post.
Strategy #2 Allow messaging
While creating your paid channel or, as we call it, "a subscription," you can decide whether you want to activate messaging. With the messaging option activated, fans can text you their questions.
Strategy #3 Casual AMA
Interesting content sparks curiosity, and you can expect a few questions. To make your subscribers feel seen, creators can decide to select some of these questions and respond to them with a new message.
Promoting Your Ask Me Anything
Once you have set up your paid QP channel, it's time to work on your marketing plan.
Here are a few tips to turn your AMA into a success:
Build Up Hype
Countdown timers, share Stories and Lives that you will start answering questions soon. It's time to ramp up the marketing machine and tell people what you will do.
The more you practice AMA, the better you will be able to create an amazing experience for your fans.
Set a Schedule
Make answering questions a part of your content creation process. They're an easy way to create content that is extremely valuable for one person (and potentially more fans).
Or you could keep things spontaneous and answer a few questions whenever you feel like it.

Reshare Answers as Content
Use your video answers as content on your social media platforms to show your commitment to creating a unique experience for your fans.
We recommend sharing teasers of your answers instead of sharing the raw footage of your answers. With this strategy, your paid subscribers will feel part of an exclusive club, and they will be more likely to continue.
When you can tag - or at least mention - the fan who asked you the question. Nothing feels more amazing than your favorite creator's shoutout.
You can reply in the comments with a written reply. However, we recommend using our video messaging capability for an even more personal and authentic experience.
When answering questions from fans, keep the following tips in mind:
- Mention the fan by their name or handle
- Paraphrase their question to show you listened
- Answer thoughtfully while staying as concise as the answer allows you to be
- What could happen if you were to end the video message with an open question?
Our most successful creators understand the power of listening and translate their superpower into engaging answers that keep the conversation going.
Is Ask Me Anything Your Jam?
Being successful on QP is about quality, not quantity.
Nurturing and investing in the relationship with your fans - no matter the size - is what is going to make the difference in the long run.
Thanks to creators like Jewel Staite, we keep pushing for monetization features that allow creators to create unique experiences for their most loyal fans.
